Special Gourmet Institute is found in Yokohama Japan. My name is Nobuhiko Hirano, please call me Bruce. I have lived abroad for a total of 17 and a half years in the United States, Canada, Qatar, Korea and Thailand. In the United States, I played baseball in a college and was often mistaken as Chinese person. I thought they didn’t know the difference. well, I showed them my karate form, which I am a black belt grade, but they said I was looked like Bruce Lee. So I told them that Bruce Lee is my uncle as joked and friends in US started call me Bruce. I also have always found it difficult to find authentic Japanese food and sake alcohols overseas, and I was disappointed that another Asians started running Japanese restaurants, which were far from the taste of Japan. In the United States, I worked as a manager at a Japanese sushi restaurant, but when I returned to Japan, I wanted to introduce the Secret Spot my hometown Yokohama food and drink to overseas visitors, so I started the Special Gourmet Institute’s food and Japanese alcohol drink tours.

What’s included:
LET’S GET OUT OF THE TOURIST AREA where it is super busy and crowded with people! My tour focuses on Yokohama Minato Mirai/Noge area which is not as crowded as Tokyo and is less touristy. It is also famous with Japanese foodies for good quality at lower prices to visit over 77 million Japanese people each year. I’m going to take you to popular bars and restaurants for ONLY LOCALS (NO TOURISTS!!) where the staff speaks only Japanese. I will order delicious dishes, and we will discuss the food and drink. We will visit 3 restaurants/taverns, Where you will have some sushi, Yokohama original chicken wings, Takoyaki and Town Ramen! You will also have the opportunity to try UNIQUE Japanese alcoholic 5 drinks and you’ll be able to experience what Japanese taverns are like. After visiting these three taverns, we will end the tour at a great Ramen restaurant that is popular for locals. At the end of the tour, I will take you to the entrance of each train line from the last stop of the tour, depending on where you need to go. Other things to note Please come meet me with a lot hungry! We are going to have a full-size meal on the day in several different restaurants included ramen!

Where you’ll be
We’ll meet Bashamichi station exit of Tokyu Toyoko/Minato Mirai line in Yokohama.
Everyone goes to Tokyo where is good to go to luxury restaurants. However, reasonable & nice taste ones don’t exist. (Price is very high, so it’s impossible!)That’s why I introduce this Minato Mirai/Noge/Yokohamabashi area because here is famous for Japanese foodie as lower price, but good quality! I’m going to take you to popular bars for ONLY LOCALS, no touristsI will order a signature dish there for you. After we leave restaurants, we are heading to a great ramen restaurant!!
